General
+ WHAT IS SNAP LIGHTING?
Snap Lighting is an interchangeable lighting system that lets you change entire light fittings with one hand, without tools, in about 5 seconds.
The system is made up of a recessed socket, and a large range of compatible push-in light fittings. The recessed socket needs a simple DIY installation in a similar way to a plug-in downlight (or by an electrician).
Once the socket is installed, you never need an electrician again. Simply push to install, or push to remove entire light fittings - simply, swiftly and safely.
+ WHY SHOULD I GET SNAP LIGHTING?
So many reasons!
- So quick, easy and affordable to keep your lighting style on-trend. After the sockets are installed, you can click in any new style yourself in 5 seconds! No more electrician costs!
- No commitment pressure. If you get normal light fittings installed and change your mind, guess what? You're up for more electrician cost and hassle. But with Snap Lighting, you can change in seconds with just one hand! And we have a 30 day change of mind returns policy!
- Freedom to change your lighting temporarily for parties, painting, renovating, selling... the list goes on...
- Super quick and easy to change a blown downlight (after many years of reliable performance of course!)
- Get your pendant position just right with tool-free height adjustment and full 360 degree free rotation
- No more electrician costs and hassle ever again. Save hundreds of dollars each time you change your lights!
- No more risking life and limb trying to install conventional fittings yourself - do it safely with Snap Lighting
- No risk! If you don't want Snap Lighting any more for whatever reason, it can be replaced just like any light fitting. It would be like you never had Snap Lighting in the first place!
- Australian designed, made and owned
There's no downside! So maybe a better question is - why wouldn't you get Snap Lighting?
+ IS SNAP LIGHTING 'SMART'?
Snap Lighting isn't smart - it's genius!
To give you the best flexibility and smart options we decided that Snap Lighting would not have smart functionality (Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth control) built in - instead we made it compatible with most smart globes, switches, and dimmers on the market.
This means you can choose whichever smart products you like or already have in your home (e.g. Philips Hue, Lifx, etc), and as smart technology changes, you don't need to change much - just the globes.
See our range of smart globes here.
+ IS SNAP LIGHTING SAFE?
Yes - completely safe. In fact, using Snap Lighting is safer than changing a light bulb!
All Snap Lighting products have been independently tested and approved by TUV Rheinland and shown to comply with, or exceed, IEC international safety standards and Australian Standards.
All Snap Lighting products have the RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark).
+ WILL I GET 'LOCKED IN' TO SNAP LIGHTING PRODUCTS?
No, definitely not. Installing Snap Lighting is just like installing a downlight - it can be removed and changed to a different product if you like - any handyman or electrician can do it.
Also, if you're worried that our range is too limited, see the next question...

+ DOES SNAP LIGHTING WORK WITH MY CURRENT DOWNLIGHTS?
Unfortunately no. Snap Lighting products (including our range of downlights) are only compatible with Snap Lighting sockets.
There is no such thing as a standard downlight housing (they're all different), so it would be impossible to make a lighting product that would fit all the different types. Not to mention typical downlights can't support any weight!
So we've created the new standard - Snap Lighting!
Snap Lighting products (downlights, pendants, etc) are only compatible with Snap Lighting sockets.
The Snap Lighting sockets can be installed in a standard 92mm ceiling cut-out. So you can easily swap out your old downlights for ours!
+ IS PENDANT HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE?
Yes! And rotation too! Without tools!
Pendant cables simply wind around the Snap Lighting pendant connector and hook into a retention feature.
Check out the videos on the 'How it Works' page to see it in action!

Installation
+ HOW IS SNAP LIGHTING INSTALLED?
SNAP LIGHTING PENDANTS, DOWNLIGHTS, ETC:
If you already have Snap Lighting sockets installed - simply push in Snap Lighting downlights, pendants or other fittings! Done in seconds!
SNAP LIGHTING SOCKETS:
Snap Lighting sockets are installed in standard 92mm ceiling cut-outs.
The sockets install just like plug-in downlights. Spring arms are folded back before being pushed into the cutout. Then 2 screws are tightened that give the socket its weight-bearing qualities.
The sockets have power cables with 3 prong plugs (or other country-specific connectors) so they can simply plug into power outlets (surface sockets / plug bases) in your ceiling space, or an electrician can hardwire them.
Once installed, you never need an electrician again! Simply push to install, or push to remove entire light fittings - simply, swiftly and safely.
+ DO I NEED AN ELECTRICIAN TO INSTALL SNAP LIGHTING?
SNAP LIGHTING PENDANTS, DOWNLIGHTS, ETC:
NO - If you already have Snap Lighting sockets installed - you do not need an electrician to push in Snap Lighting downlights, pendants or other fittings.
SNAP LIGHTING SOCKETS:
NO - If there are existing power outlets (surface sockets / plug bases) in your ceiling, you can install and plug in Snap Lighting sockets yourself. To ensure correct function and safety please read and follow all instructions carefully before installation and use.
YES - If there are no existing power outlets in your ceiling, installation must be carried out by a Licensed Electrician.
+ I HAVE ANGLED CEILINGS. IS THAT OK?
Yes! But the maximum angle depends on whether you intend to install downlights or pendants:
SNAP LIGHTING DOWNLIGHTS:
No problem - Snap Lighting downlights can be installed at any ceiling angle.
SNAP LIGHTING PENDANTS:
Snap Lighting pendants are suitable for angled ceilings up to 30degrees from horizontal. For angles greater than this contact us - there are some exceptions.
